ComaCose: a little of this, and a little of that
ComaCose and the soul of Milano in 3000 AC. ComaCose, o Coma_Cose, if you rather prefer, is a Milanese music project, born in Milan by two adoptive Milanese, who take Milan's creative humus, for good and for bad, to transfer it to music flirting with transgenerational suggestions, beyond the genres. They have launched a whole series of videos since the beginning of this year, but very little news circulate about them. Curious to know more, here at Wood'd we crossed them for a short chat, to bring you an extract of their soundscape. Ladies and gents, Fausto and California are [...]
Ckrono: in between mixed culture’s contrasts and rhythm
Ckrono makes you move on the dancefloor, and not only. You say Ckrono, you say Voodoo Rebel, or Ckrono & Slesh. You talk a good chunk of last decade of underground music straight outta Florence. You're talking dancefloor evolutions, contaminations in a single reference universe: the rhythm. Recently relocated in Milano, we are happy to introduce you to Ckrono, for a small talk with Wood'd and to enrich with new inspirations our weekly Wood'd Vibes. Play it loud and have a nice journey in music! Who are you? I’m CKRONO, I am a Dj and producer from Florence but I [...]
Albi Scotti walks the infinite path in the world of rhythm
We're on a world tour with Albi Scotti, my man... We met Albi Scotti for a spritz a few months ago, and while sipping Aperol we asked him to join the Wood'd Vibes crew, our column of weekly mixtapes. Usually we ask musicians, DJs and producers to translate into music their idea of wood, tradition, craftmanship. And while Albi was trhilling to join, we were glad to have him here. So word to Albi, a man of music, great taste and amazing company. Cheers! Ciao Albi, tell us who you are! I am Albi Scotti, or Albiscotti for closer friends. [...]
≈ Belize ≈ can fly you to the moon without moving from the couch
≈ Belize ≈ is just another place in the mind, but it sounds super fresh. ≈ Belize ≈ can be filed under “pop and rhythms”, a music machine with ever expanding grooves, as a few friends told before us. Keyboards, choruses, guitars, drums, sense of humor, sampling and various metaphors, with an obsession for details that comes from sound engineering. We've known each other since like forever, but every time we hear something new coming from them, we feel like we don't fully know them yet. Since we know that they know how to rock, and they rock, it was impossible not to invite them to [...]
Funclab is the go-to crew raised and based in Milan
We asked Funclab Collective to make our worlds collide, and they did this chilled mixtape. We've got in touch with Funclab Collective last year for the first time, when we saw their installations made of wood shelves and old technology. Amazing. Almost cracked televisions, transmitting analog images synced with fresh music. Once again, the old and the new, as a ghost, comes back to these pages. This time in the shape of music. We are glad to have Funclab Collective joining the Wood'd Vibes column, our weekly selection of mixtapes, if you don't know about it. Boys and girls, children [...]
DJ Herrera brings in a champion sound to move you
DJ Herrera never won Champions League. But he could. Dj Herrera, aka Helenio, aka Joel, aka Black Snake, or simply Rico. His aliases are infinite, constantly increasing, as well as his records collection, and his taste in music that makes your booty shake on the dance floor, when the deejay's playing. That very same gusto makes your head nod when you listen to a beat produced by Herrera the champ. He's one of the turntables' best kept secrets in Italy, since back in the days of the super  jazzy group known as I Maniaci dei Dischi. It was only right having him with us for a special Wood'd [...]
Milan based duo “buMMer” latest mixtape is a slingshot
Bummer is a duo made by brothers, delivering hot music to the world. "This is not going to be easy!". That's what buMMer said when we've asked them to join the "Wood'd Vibes", translating into music their idea of wood, craftsmanship and tradition. Easy to say it when it concerns acoustic music, but these boys up here really push some heavy electro stuff! Guess what, they've made us a mixtape we can't stop listening to. Andrea and Marco, that's a win-win! Ciao Bummer, what’s your real name and who are you? Easy: We're brothers, both producers and musicians, working in [...]
Waxlife and the infinite ways of contemporary sound
Waxlife leads us in his universe, with a mixtape to be played loud. Waxlife, aka Simone Lanza, is a gentleman frequently entertaining and making tired bodies move in some of the weirdest Milan's club. We've assisted to many deejay of his sets, and, when we've asked him to join the Wood'd Vibes club, his response has been: "Wow, super!". Two days later we had a thrilling 60 minutes mixtape in our inbox. We played it loud and non-stop. Take it as a Friday afternoon office gift, mates. Let's play it, Simone! Ciao Waxlife, what's your real name and who are [...]
Anna Viganò brings some rock to be Uncovered and makes you loving it
Anna Viganò takes you to the Verano. For real. "Ciao Anna! Why don't you translate into music your idea of wood, craftsmanship and acoustics?" "Of course!". A woman, finally, is putting some gasoline into the Wood'd Vibes tank, our weekly music installment, curated by different artists every time. Anna Viganò, also known as Verano, is taking the lead today. She knows everything about indie rock music. We fell in love with her music since the first time we saw her in concert a while ago in Milano. Anna, we are glad to have you here, please feel free to make [...]
FFiume makes you ride around the world at 33 rpm
FFiume and that irrepressible want to see the entire world through at least 33 revolutions per minute. We met Francesco Fiume in Milano. He was coming back from London, where he lives, and he was about to go to Calabria, where he was born. In a momentary lapse of nostalgia, we've started discussing about the old fashioned world of "physical supports", from photography to music. Because Francesco, or FFiume, has always lived with music. From his beginning as DJ and selector at a young age, to rapping, to strettoblaster, an online editorial project made of beats, pieces, and wrong ideas, [...]
