Dirton, from Pompeii to the center of the universal rhythm

Dirton x Wood'd Vibes
Pic by Milo Alterio

A musical journey through Naples, Paris and London.

Dirton is twenty-six, he comes from Pompeii (Naples), and, like many of his peers, he began to compose music in the darkness of his room, imagining distant scenarios and trying to trace the boundaries with the imagination. On a journey through the rhythms of the five continents, “Kenya Che?” has just been released, its new EP on the Malinka Sound label. From Afrobeat to the Italian disco tradition, in a magic triangle that unites the main world capitals of rhythm. Duty stop here for us at Uncovered, to bring us a new episode of Wood’d Vibes, indeed. Enjoy the ride, and play it loud!

Hello! Would you like to introduce yourself to Uncovered? Who are you and what do you do?
Hi guys! I’m Lorenzo, also known as Dirton, and I’m a music producer from Pompeii, Naples.

And when and how did you start producing music?
I started making music 8 years ago, watching my older brother, as he was too into music production.

What are your main influences, and how they affected your sound?
I have always listened to James Brown, blues and jazz, since I was a child. And for the productions of the new record, I took a lot from Stones Throw records from LA. I mean the likes of Knxwledge, MNDSGN, the Rhythm Section, as well as the jazz of the South London scene, people like Henry Wu, Al Dobson Jr., and so on. In a word, afrobeat, in general.

Which was the inspiration for this mix?
Drums, rhythms, positive vibrations, new Peggy Gou productions.

So, what have you prepared for Wood’d?
A small mix of old and new songs from all around the world, to dance carefree.
